The International Festival of Early Music Medimus, this year will have its third installment in the atrium of the Church of the Holy Saviour in Prizren.
For the first time the festival will take place over the course of three days, from 24 to 26 August 2018.
We are honoured to share the news that this year too, the Republic of Hungary is the country partner of the festival. Coinciding with the previous years, the festival has yet another very interesting programme as well as international participants: the world-renowned artist Divna Ljubojević will perform at the 2018 Medimus Festival with her ensemble Melodi. The performance in the Church of the Holy Saviour will take place on 25 August 2018 at 8 p.m.
We also have the honour to host the Ensemble Cassiopea from Germany.
Ensemble members: Karolina Bäter, Mirjam-Luise Münzel, Amandine Affagard and Stelina Apostolopoulou.
This year the ensemble Capella Carniola from Slovenia will perform. The ensemble was formed in 2004. and its members are: Janez Jocif, Marta Močnik Pirc, Kristina Martinc, Izidor Erazem Grafenauer, Franci Krevh, Barbara Kanc, Tanja Skok, Tamara Avsenik and Nina Kompare Volasko.
One of the longest existing ensembles, which was formed in as early as 1978, Musica Antiqua from Belgrade will be this year’s guest. The founder and director of the ensemble is Vera Zloković.
The final participant of this year’s installment of Medimus, The Bourdon Ensemble, from Hungary, we remember for their wonderful performance which closed the festival last year. Its members are: Katalin Bennő, Ádám Buda, Áron Esztergomi, László Bennő.
A special surprise for visitors to the Medimus Festival, this year will be the appearance of the Royal Order of the Knights.
The Royal Order of the Knights works with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Serbian Irinej, with the blessing of the Blessed Patriarch Pavle, under the auspices of HRH Duchess Linda Karađorđević and her sons Princes Mihajlo and Đorđe.
The royal family founded the Royal Order of the Knights in order to cultivate and develop traditional chivalric skills and values, through culture, spirituality, art, sport and humanitarian work. In its operation, the Royal Order of the Knights revives the most exalted from the Serbian and Byzantine arduous spirit.
