On the first weekend of October, the fifth international festival of medieval music “Medimus” was held in Prizren. The festival, which is traditionally held in the atrium of the Church of the Holy Savior, was held here this year in the gate of the monastery of the Holy Archangels due to the epidemiological situation.
The festival began on October 3, with the incredible voices of the Teofilović brothers, who evoked the centuries that had passed in the gate of the monastery built in 1352. On the second day of the festival, October 4, the ensemble Medimus and the choir and orchestra of the Theological Seminary in Prizren “St. Cyril and Methodius” performed. The ensemble Medimus, created in this very place, with the incredible creative energy of the members themselves, delighted the audience this year as well. A special stamp was left by the choir and orchestra of the Theological Seminary “St. Cyril and Methodius” in the form of local Prizren musical creation and heritage that they nurture by performing throughout Serbia. On both days of the festival, the program was led by the drama artist Marija Bergam, who, in addition to leading the program, spoke selected texts.
This year, in addition to music, vocal art and acting, we had the opportunity to attend an exhibition of paintings “Autumn in Prizren” created at the Art Colony, which is held every year by the House of Culture “Gracanica”, also in the Monastery of the Holy Archangels near Prizren.
The festival is organized by the Society of Friends of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels, the House of Culture “Gracanica”, the Foundation of the Holy Archangels, and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. Many people from Prizren also contributed to the organization, and those who constantly return to Prizren out of love and need and participate in the cultural and spiritual renewal of Dusan’s city.
